4 Days Akagera Wildlife, Balloon & Community Tour

The 4 days Akagera national park safari is an interesting safari you should consider when planning for your visit to Rwanda the land of a thousand hills. The safari will begin with a pick up from the airport in Kigali to Akagera national park which is known for homing the big five animals and then do a morning game drive and an afternoon boat cruise that will be done on lake Ihema from the head for an air ballooning experience and a community tour where you will visit the Iby’iwachu cultural village where you will have all the information about Rwandan people and their origin and then head to the airport and fly back home.


Detailed tour.

Day 1: Arrival at the airport in Kigali and transfer to Akagera national park.

Be picked up at the airport by your driver guide who will be waiting for you and brief you shortly about the safari. This briefing will summarize for you the dos and don’ts to follow while on your 4 days Akagera national park safari. After the briefing, drive heading to Akagera national park the home of the big five animals.

Check in on your booked lodge early for your dinner and overnight stays waiting for your first activity the following day.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema

Enjoy your beautiful morning breakfast at the lodge and embark on a journey for a morning game drive which will give you an opportunity to look at many games including the big five animals such as lions, Elephants, Rhinos, leopards and buffalos all grazing in this beautiful national park. Return back to your lodging facility for lunch.

After lunch, embark on the journey for a boat cruise which is normally done on Lake Ihema. This boat cruise will open to you a chance of viewing aquatic animals such as hippos, crocodiles, frogs, snakes and many water bird species that leave around the lake. Drive back to your lodge for dinner.


Day 3: Hot air balloon ride and community tour

Have your breakfast at the lodge and then drive heading for another rewarding activity which is hot air ballooning which is usually done in the park starting at 5 am in the morning taking 1-2 hours.

Enjoy the serenity of this flight as you are having views of the park at glance with a sunrise sighting and view many animals like buffalos, elephants and much more. Land down and meet your driver guide who will drive you to the lodge for lunch.

In the evening, take part in the community tour where you will visit the Iby’iwachu cultural village where you will be given all the required information regarding the history of the Rwandan people both political, social and economic set up not forgetting the cultural beliefs, music, dance and drama. Buy some souvenirs here for remembrance and then drive back to the lodge for dinner.


Day 4: Fly back home.

Have your breakfast at the lodge and then check out from the lodge and Akagera national park heading to Kigali city where you will be dropped either at the hotel or driven to the airport in Kigali and fly back home.
