Impenetrable Forest Park for a gorilla trekking vacation.
Bwindi
Impenetrable National Park is a recognized UNESCO Site in Uganda considering
its biodiversity. Over 120 mammal species, 360 bird species, reptiles,
butterflies, floral species, amphibians, and other species are all concentrated
within this forest-dominated park. For gorilla trekkers, the park has 20 fully
habituated gorilla families to be tracked in the 4 sectors- Nkuringo,
Rushaga (the Southern sectors); Buhoma to the North, and Ruhija in the
Eastern part.

Itinerary
Day one:
Kigali city tour & cross to Bwindi National Park
A special
breakfast will be enjoyed at leisure at a hotel in Kigali after which, meet
your gorilla tour leader for a briefing about this short 2-day Bwindi from
Kigali safari. Since your journey begins from Kigali, you will have a short
city tour of about 2 hours in Kigali and you will be visiting the Gisozi
genocide memorial, local markets especially Kirimonko -Rwanda’s biggest local
market where fresh fruits and kinds of stuff are sold, craft shops etc.
You will
settle for early lunch break, then begin your journey to Bwindi crossing to
Uganda via Katuna to Kabale, an ideal route for guests who prefer tracking
gorilla families at Buhoma/Ruhija or Chanika border to Kisoro if your target is
to visit habituated groups in Nkuringo/Rushaga. In far Southwestern Uganda, you
will have a magical view of the rolling hills and surrounding rural settings
before you connect to your lodge for evening relaxation, dinner, and an
overnight stay.
Day 2: Bwindi
gorilla trekking & transfer back to Kigali. End of tour.
Wake up early
and breakfast will be served to you then proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Park offices for a briefing about gorilla tracking guidelines. Before you
connect to the briefing center, ensure that you have packed enough drinking
water, you have the right gear, snacks, etc.
Actual
tracking of gorillas begins at 8:00 am after you have been allocated to
habituated gorilla groups and park guides. Your trek is estimated to last for
2-6 hours, and when you get a gorilla family you will stay face-to-face with
these large apes for one hour and also take pictures.
Start walking
back after photography, and at the park offices, an official will give you a
gorilla trekking certificate and you proceed to the lodge for lunch, relax and
check out. Drive back to Kigali, and be dropped off at a hotel which marks the
end of this 2 days Bwindi gorilla trek from Kigali.
